2018 UAS-focused Public Safety Conferences

As with any new emerging technology, there is a rush of people and companies that get into the game for varying reasons--conferences and expos centered around drone technology are no exception. Just a few short years ago when drones became part of the lexicon and everyday reality, there was a proliferation of drone conferences, expos, and workshops around the US and the world from CES to InterDrone. The biggest challenge becomes determining what conferences are really worth attending (knowledge intensive) and which are more geared towards socializing (and hangovers). To paraphrase Christopher Vo, President of the D.C. Drone Users Group, avoid going to ‘drone’ conferences, but instead focus on where the applications and unfulfilled needs are. As a company, we could not agree more.

The most value we have gotten from conferences are those which are centered around public safety and the applications/tools that are built specifically to address the concerns of this cohort. For example, if your niche in the drone industry is agriculture, try to find those conferences more tailored to that market. In this post, we list some of these core conferences we think will give you the best bang for your buck, namely those with a greater focus on drones and public safety.

Be sure to check out this list for a more general drone conference calendar and worthwhile tips including what to look for in a conference, travel, and more. Now if these conferences happen to be in fun location like Vegas or The Big Easy, well then you can kill more than a couple of birds with one stone!

As always, stay safe up there!
